My LibraryThing
Thing #13-Yet another way to save and view material. My LibraryThing was simple to create and design. I'm not through discovering what it will do...I'll be back with more info before Thing 13 is done. Looked through LibraryThingLocal and punched in Dunnellon, Florida. I found no activities but did find the Books-A-Million bookstore. This could be a great site when traveling but like any such site, it needs everyone to add to it.

Wiki mania
Thing#12-
Had my doubts about anything wiki. As we all know the good thing about wikipedia is that anyone can add, edit or delete information in it...and the bad thing is that anyone can add, edit or delete information in it. Therefore it is a site of last resort for valid information. BUT...I hadn't used pbwiki, wetpaint or wikispaces, or used them as shown in the video provided. It could be a great tool to use with people you know where input can be added or changed by members of the group. A library wiki could be used to gather information about materials patron and staff wished to add to the collection, and as items were added, that could be shown as well. I have made an entry on the neflins23thingspbwiki and am a full-fledged member of pbwiki...gotta love anything named peanut butter.

I can "Digg" it
Thing 11-
I chose to examine Digg (loved the icon of the little guy with the shovel) and used it to comment on the Washington Post article about President Obama's meeting next week on the sad state of the economy. I guess this type of site will show what patron's consider a priority, since it ranks information by popularity..what they are really interested in ...and what we as library staff should be familiarizing ourselves with.

Delicious Tags
Thing#10-
Lots to learn in Thing 10. I tagged several of my posts and went on to learn about Delicious. I'm questioning adding Delicious to my toolbar until I understand it a bit better. I think I need more information... It's a bit later now and I've opened a Delicious account and put Webjunction, Goodreads and LibraryThing in it. I tagged all with "library" as well as others and all came up when I entered the tag in my account. Seems like a good way to find not only information I have discovered, but information discovered by others as well...and moving from one computer to another...these 'favorites' are always available.

It's Christmas in February!
Thing#9- Sharing- slides, photos & databases
Loved this "thing". I used photos from our Christmas program and inserted them into various formats. Finally decided on the photo 'peel' from the Picture Trail program. Very easy to use and would be ideal for blogging pictures of the grandkids. I included a link to Picture Trail so others can experiment. I recommend it.

Finally a Spell with Flikr
More non-verbal communication
Thing #8- This "Thing" gives us even more ways to communicate non-verbally. I learned about IM-ing and tried unsuccessfully to communicate with a co-worker (who was sitting 10 feet from me). Also read about text messaging and web conferences. Seems I got good information, but certainly not ready to claim expertise.

Instant Messaging
Thing#8-
Looks like there's lots to do in #8. I've signed on to Meebo which at first glance appears to be a routing source for a number of instant messaging sites. I'm thinking you can send and receive IMs from AOL, Yahoo, MSN, Google etc. once you join Meebo. At least that is what it appears at first glance. Ran out of time (not an unusual occurance) and will need to do more research later. If my assumption is true it shouldn't matter which IM site others elect to use...I should be able to connect with them. If I'm wrong...we'd better all agree on one IM site to use.

Fooey on Flickr
Thing #6- After many days of frustration I have given up on attempting to place the 'spell with flickr' on my blog. I even emailed Kastner and was unable to complete this project....on to a Southern Comfort manhattan ...and then to #7.
Fun #*@?& with Flickr
Thing #5- Flickr
After too many attempts to understand the "simple" and "easy to use" Flickr, I think I have made at least an end road into completing this task. At the moment I am waiting for my photos to up load to the site. Keep your fingers crossed...I'm beginning to lose my patience.
Apparently all went well with my second attempt to upload my photos. They've been headlined and tagged. My personal opinion is Picasa is more user friendly. On to Thing #6.
